| | Subject: | Which math program for 3rd grade? | |

Agh. My head is about to explode. My 2nd grader is having difficulty in school, and always has. She doesn't like academics and prefers building forts and socializing on the playground instead. Her attention span to academics is poor, largely because she just doesn't want to do it. It has driven her teachers crazy ever since preschool, and now I need to give them a break and homeschool her for 3rd grade, where I can keep her focused and on task and tutored individually. (She really wants to homeschool.) She needs a lot of basic instruction and clear, simple math instruction without the fluff. Fluff really distracts her. Several years ago I used Saxon with her (academically oriented) siblings and liked it a lot. But there's also Math-U-See and Horizons to consider. Does anyone feel strongly about any of these programs for good, basic, down to the hard facts, let's get this over with, what's really important here, math? Thank you!
