but first a correction to the last post... I meant to say "NOT the end all", I somehow missed putting the *not* in. sigh.

and second, I want to say I agree with some of their premises. I think western medicine puts way to much emphasis on treating symptoms and often not even looking for the causes. For example, I was sick because my gallbladder was shot, but drs solution was to remove the gallbladder. End of story. But I think something was wrong that was stressing the gallbladder beyond its capacity. Other times they are looking for the causes and just haven't found them yet.

I'll give you the website, but it is a website promoting this technique so the technique sounds very good in it. http://www.jmttechique.com/index_files/index_what_is.html

My sister and one of my friends have also struggled with health issues. The three of us have searched out bits and pieces of the puzzle for years because the drs don't know what is wrong.

Some of the things we've found... diet is especially important and also extremely frustrating because bodies work differently. Some of the basics are the same... everyone needs vitamins and minerals and getting them from real food is better than taking a pill because often the real food has the companion things that help in the digestion or utilization of the vitamins and minerals (and proteins, fats, enxsymes, phytonutrients, ....). But some aspects are very different. My sister has a slow digestive system and her husband has a fast one. If he eats like she does, lots of fruits and veggies and only some starches and proteins his energy level spikes and drops and stays dropped and he feels hungry all the time. If she eats like he does, lots of complex carbs and proteins and only some fruits and veggies, her digestive system cloggs up and she feels lethargic all the time. We think that is why the fad diets (low fat, then low carbs, then low protien or mostly fat, then mostly protien, then mostly carbs) go in cycles... the people they are right for give rave reviews and everyone tries it. Some the people it isn't right for give up and something else which is right for their kind of body, and they give rave reviews, and so on.

My friend found at least part of the answer to the worst of her health problems... celiac.

And it isn't all diet. Light is a key for me. My friend is very sensitive to temperature. My sister and dad are unusually sensitive to getting sleep (or maybe everyone is sensitive to that, they just attribute the symptoms to other things). Time to digest the information we are constantly bombarded with, close personal relationships, general social contact... it is so easy to let them slide away but I think they all affect how well our bodies can function.

We think the standard American culture is so far out of whack in so many areas that it isn't surprising that so many people are so ill so much of the time.
