Yo J,
Sometimes us guys can come up with some good ideas.
SA is known for it's Riverwalk with stores, restaurants and Mall. A short walk southeast is the old '68 Hemisphere grounds with a Texas Natural History Museum (Indians and all) and the rotating Hemisphere Needle with a restaurant where you get a spectacular view of all of SA. A short walk the other way (Northwest) from the Riverwalk is the most sacred of all Texas shrines and SA Missions, The Alamo. If you come from somewhere else in the country and you want to learn about true Texas, you visit, The Alamo!
If all you want to do is cool down in the hot summer sun and not get educated then there is always Sea World & Six Flags Fiesta Texas, (bring swim suits.)
