I do not agree with your advice to "just venting." For her son to continue in this relationship is to put himself in temptation--which could bring a lifetime of pain in consequences. This is a relationship that believers should flee from, not make concessions for. God does not bless sin. Children are influenced by their parents, even if they don't show it. Her stand against this relationship is right, and her son will be influenced by her stand--her husband too.
