Subject:	Thursday Thirteen

My Thursday thirteen is about what has happened in the past week.
1. 19 yod and 18 yos off to college (one has been attending, but she moved to campus for the first time).
2. 17 yos passed the driving portion of the driver's test, and got a full driver's license.
3. 15 yos passed the written portion of the driver's tests, and got a learner's permit.
4. 13 yos landed the lead part in a musical.
5. Anatomy and speech classes have started for me (I'm going back to school, heartily wishing I'd taken school more seriously way back when).
6. Sticker shock at the cost of textbooks, I'm happy that the prof doesn't require the new edition. I can easily life with a few typos and page numbers being off to save $160.
7. Dd is exasperated... she's been warning ds about getting text books early and he hasn't paid much attention. Then he looks up what he needs and finds all 18 credits = 4 books. One he checked out of the community library, one he bought from the guy in the next room at the dorm. She needs fourty (yes, 40) books and although she could get some used or from libraries, she couldn't get all of them.
8. I'm sad that the speech class dd took last spring (same teacher, same format) has switched books, I have to buy it instead of using hers.
9. I'm happy that the weather is cool enough that I can bake.
10. I'm tired from fighting off a cold.
11. I'm still reading my latest - greatest find in books... Survival of the Sickest. Weird title, but good out of the box thinking inside.
12. I like watching the sun come up on my drive in to school.
13. I'm thinking about trying some version of once a month cooking.
