Subject:	I'm home from work again today, I was rear-ended the other day

. I was stopped at a red light and BAM! She plowed into me then hit the gas and rammed me again. My neck snapped and the mother of all headaches promptly ensued. I called 911, they were there within minutes, took me out of my car on a body board and transported me to the hospital for x-rays. Fortunately my neck is just sprained, nothing real major.

I haven't even seen the damage to my car yet and now I'm irritated 'cause I'm dealing with her insurance company and it's a hassle. My car was towed and I have to get a notorized power of atty letter to release it to the towing company that will take it to the repair shop. I have to find and pay for a rental car myself upfront then they will reimburse me a set fee after my case is closed (which may be a while since they won't pay anything until I sign off on medical but I don't want to too quickly since who knows if I'll have problems a few months down the road?)

My insurance co, on the other hand, is great. They pay for everything along the way, not just a one-time settlement, and they take care of getting my car towed and getting me set up in a rental. Wonderful customer service. I should have just gone straight through them and let them settle with hers. Lesson learned.

Oh, I did have a good laugh though. When I was talking to the guy at the impound lot and he was telling me about getting the POA I said "You're kidding, how and where am I supposed to get that?"

He hesitated a minute and said "Ma'am, are you in jail?"

Well that just tickled me and I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. I told him no, I had been in the hospital the night before but maybe I would have been better off if I were in jail. He apologized profusely and said it was a stupid thing for him to say. I told him him it was ok and we both laughed about it for several minutes.

Anyhow, gotta call my boss to update him and let him know I won't be in again today.
