Wow! Those are two really different approaches! I haven't used Shurley, but I've heard that it's very time-consuming as well as all-encompassing. Winston Grammar is neither: it teaches the parts of speech in a fun, multi-sensory manner. It's excellent for what it does, but it is not a complete LA curric. (BTW, I have never used a complete Lang Arts curric--I prefer to pick and choose using a writing course, spelling or vocab where needed, editor-in-chief, and others). Hope this helps!
