You don't say which math text you're using, but this is what I'm thinking: Sit with her; do your own thing, but be right there. Set a time limit, say, 30-45 minutes; whatever she doesn't finish today, she finishes tomorrow. Same 30-45 minutes. I have read many times that children who are given a concrete time for math are "amazingly" able to finish the same amount of work that used to take hours. Don't know why it works but it does.
When you correct her work (which you should do as soon as she finishes) if you can't read it, it's wrong. She will *probably* be inspired to do it more neatly next time. Also, consider using graph paper to help her put all the numbers in their correct places.
