| Subject: | messy and illegible math for 6th grader |
|
Date: | December 15, 2007 at 9:22 am PST |
My dd zones out on math and can stare at the wall forever. She takes way too long on math, but does not want my assistance. (I explain too much!) When she finally finishes her math, I may not be able to read it or she may not show her work so I don't know why she is missing it. Sometimes I make her redo the entire lesson due to messiness, but I start to feel panicky because she needs to do other school subjects. Or I simply don't believe she can concentrate on math anymore that day.
Should I start over on the same lesson the next day?
The vast majority of her errors are due to sloppiness (adding when she should subtract, etc.). She seems to understand the concept. That is why she does not want my help in correcting the problem, she can correct it just fine. She also does not want to search for the error in her problem, she just starts all over and may repeat the error, or even a new one.
Advice?
