Hi Judy, I'm not Gigi but I think that for your son's age, Reading Reflex would be ideal. However, it's not a laid out, step by step program. I've developed a basic program that covers the same phonemes that their Basic Code does and it is laid out step by step. It's available for free at; . Why not try starting with it to cover the basics? It's made up of 10 lessons and then moves very smoothly into the Explode the Code workbooks starting with their Book 3. Of all the methods I tried, I liked the Explode the Code books best. It's just that their basic code is not set up very well, there's no reasonable progression to it. That's why I made the worksheets that you can download for free at my site. I put a lot of work into them and want them to be available for others that might need them.
