Lynn, My 5th grader used the TT 5 this year. I can think of maybe 1 time he had to come ask me to explain something. We love how the lessons are taught on the computer- the teacher explains very well and the student is able to watch the problem being worked. I also love that the student can get instant correction for a missed problem. You can view the solution for each problem in the book(not just what the answer should be, but why and how). It has been a huge help to me as I don't have to spend much time grading or explaining. My son really enjoys it . I also think it does a good job with word problems, creative thinking, as well as reviewing previous material. One thing I would mention that I realized later in the year is this: in my opinion ( and I have read this elsewhere too) the level 5 is not as difficult as some other 5th grade curriculums. I don't think it covers all the things that some other ones do. I had my 5th grader do 5th grade and 6th grade this year without a problem. He just doubled up on some of the easier days. I think a math-bright 4th graded could do 5th grade fairly easily and a math-bright 5th grader could do the 6th. There is a placement test you can take on their website. That being said, I do love TT and math is always one of the first things my son wants to do. That's a blessing in itself. I definitely plan to use TT though high school. Hope that's helpful. Good luck Allison
