Amy, Sorry, I didn't check in for a couple days. The cards are easy to make. Others have said they are easier to handle than bought ones too. Here is how:
Each index card will yield two triangle cards. The card is 3x5. Measure 3 inches on the long side and draw a line to mark a 3 inch square. Cut off the two inches of excess card. You now have your square. Cut that diagonally to make two triangles.
To mark your triangle, use the blank side of the card, with the longest side on the bottom. The two numbers you multiply go in the two bottom corners and the product will go in the top of the triangle. I used a different color of ink for the product to help differentiate them for the student.
Laminating will help them last longer and slide easier.
To use: You simply cover the corner with the hand you are holding the cards with. If you cover the top one, you will multiply the two bottom ones. If you cover a bottom one, you will divide the other two. Time yourself to see how fast you can make it through. It is easy to put correct answers on one pile and wrong ones on another to see where problem areas might be. (My ds had trouble with threes, so we pulled those out and worked only on them a few times.)
