is that when I take my packages to the PO they scan them and I get an itemized recipt that tells the zip code, weight, cost and the delivery confirmation number. That is what I use as my proof of mailing.

My PO receipt and my stub from the Shipping Assistant together can be used to prove that I send the package. My PO receipt has the confrimation #. My stub has the same number so that the person can see that that confirmation number mathches the label I printed for them.

Actually I have NEVER had the PO lose a package either coming to me or one that I have sent. I know I am blessed, but I am always prepared with proof just in case!
