Subject:         Could you tell me what you would do in this situation?

I listed several cds for sale on this board and others. I had one lady ask me about them and said she wanted to purchase all of them. I even gave her a discount since she wanted all 4 of them. Then she stalls for two days on paying me (she said she would paypal then nothing). Then she tells me that she found one of the cds she was going to buy from me somewhere else for 50 cents cheaper and now doesn't want all of them but only three of the remaining cds! At that point I knew I shouldn't sell to her as I had other offers on the same cd's and a full price from other people. But since she was the first to respond I thought it was only fair to keep her in the loop. So I told her that I was relisting the cd's just incase she found them somewhere else cheaper.

Well she paypal'd that day and wanted to purchase others from me. Since she had finally paid I went and sold her two more cds. Now I checked all the cd's to make sure they worked as they did have scratches on them (and I told her this). They all worked just fine on my computer. I even gave her a discount on the other two cds. So she bought 5 cds from me and I sent them out. But then she emails me and says that she found the cd's new for a little less than what I was selling them for (and she accused me of lying about how much I paid for them) and wondered if I had sent them out yet. Well I had and I told her so.

She gets the cds and says they weren't in the condition I told her they were in and that one of them (the most expensive one) doesn't work. I tell her (again) that the worked for me and give her some pointers on how to get it working. She keeps emailing me saying shes tried that and how her brother went to Microsoft school and she is going to get him to look at--stuff like that--and demanding copies of email I sent to her etc. Well after two days of this I decide--let's just be done with this--you send me the cd that I know works and I will send you a refund minus shipping charges. I don't have any refund policies--I'm just a mom who sells and buys what we need and I know the cd works because I tested it.

Anyway she just emailed me back saying my requirements for sending the cd back and getting a refund was an insult. She accused me of lying again about how much I paid for the cd and she was just nasty.

What else could I do? She never asked for her money back--never. She just kept complaining about the transaction and accusing me. And then when I offered her a refund she got even nastier (because I said I would not refund shipping charges) and said she was going to "report" me to the board. I don't know what else I could do. Do you??

Candice
