Sometimes life does get overwhelming for the buyer and seller .. and things happen .. but some people do not truly understand they need to pay right away .. I don't think it's being rude .. it's just not getting it .. The extra time it took on the front side of the sale will save you a lot of grief on the backside ..
Try this sending each sale an invoice (I learned from a lady 12 years ago when I first came here)
Something like this

1- Abeka Math Teachers Guide /4th grade
Fair condition .. some writing and shelf wear.
Spine in good shape / (and the price you want)
Subtotal/
Shipping 3.00 includes bookrate shipping and Tracking (I always try to tell them how it is coming here)

Optional insurance (ALWAYS OFFER THIS AS AN OPTION)
YOU MUST CONFIRM THIS WITHIN 24 HOURS WITH YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS ( i always put this in bold)
Payment is due within 5 days (I am sorry after this the item will be reposted since I need to purchase my fall items for school thank you for understanding)

this has allowed you to be kind but firm.. and now you have a copy of what you sent .. and so does the buyer.. if you use paypal.. make sure you put some kind of tracking on your package .. for proof of sending .
I am so sorry this has happened to you .. sigh.. my dd is now in college .. but I remember the days of making sure I have enough money for all her books..
