Subject:         Paypal Info: If you Buy or Sell using Paypal Please Read

I have been shopping and selling on Vegsource for several years now & recently I have come across a situation that I thought needed further inquiry on my part. I have been asked by sellers on this board to do one of two things when using Paypal as a form of payment. Most sellers prefer Paypal but want to avoid any seller fees so they are asking customers to use the "personal" and not the "purchase" option when using Paypal. Some have even asked the customer to pay their seller's fee. I emailed Paypal to see what their policy is concrning this and I copied & pasted what they told me.
_______________________________________________________________________
Thank you for contacting PayPal.

I understand that you want to be sure you're protected for your
purchase. Personal payments are for sending a gift, splitting a lunch
bill, paying your share of the living expenses, and everyday exchanges
of money between friends and family.

* There is no need for eBay or item information for personal
payments.
* Personal payment transactions are not eligible for Buyer or Seller Protection.
Purchases are for paying for an item, such as something won on eBay, or
for a service, such as music downloads.

* Transactions that are commerce related through a checkout or
general purchase flow.
* Purchases may require tax, item information, or postage and
packaging charges.

Personal payments are not intended for the purchase of goods or services
from sellers and therefore cannot be disputed.

Fees being assessed for the purchase of goods or services should be
shouldered by the seller. The sellers should not have you pay for the
fees they are incurring.

Sincerely,
PayPal Resolutions Services
PayPal, an eBay Company

*****Although using the "personal" option for payment benefits the seller it leaves the buyer unprotected. If you get a seller that is unethical, you may NOT get your money back because basically you chose to give that money to a friend or family member & not paid for a product as a business transaction.

Also, as you read above, the seller is responsible for any of the seller fees not the customer. If the seller wants to use Paypal the seller must follow Paypal policy & pay their fees. I include myself in this when I am acting as the seller. As a buyer, I will protected myself & only conduct business with a seller who is willing to follow Paypal policy.

I hope this educates some of us & makes Vegsource a more enjoyable shopping experience for everyone.

Thanks!
