In Reply to: post office lost package, buyer wants money back but did not get package insured now what? posted by Judi-AL on September 13, 2008 at 8:12 pm:
On this site, the general rule has been --- if the seller offers insurance to the buyer but the buyer declines, then the loss is on the buyer. If the seller quotes a price with shipping but does not specifically tell the buyer that insurance is not included, then the loss is on the seller. Also, if you mail a paperback book in a bubble mailer, you should use pieces of cardboard on the top and bottom of the book to keep the book from being creased, and tape the mailer on all sides and around the entire package in both directions. For hard cover books, you should always use boxes, because they rarely travel well in bubble mailers. Sue
