Subject:	asvab scores higher 4 homeschool

i'm not in the military but i'm looking for an answer for my son whose dream is to be a marine. he's 18 yrs. old & knows exactly what he wants to do but can't due to a rule about asvab scores for homeschoolers. he went to public school all his life except past 2 yrs. but got his diploma fron homeschool. we recently found out he has to score 20 pts. higher than public school kids does anyone know why? he made 37 0n asvab but must make 51 whereas pub. school kids can get b in w/31. can anyone shed some light?
