We have always used Living books as opposed to textbooks. My oldest is going into 11th grade this year. He has learned so much more with real books than he would have with boring snippets in textbooks. He has scored extremely high on standardized testing. He has won three local homeschool geography bee's. He was a runner up in the local American Legion Constitutional Speech contest. He has participated in NCFCA debate competitions at the state & regional levels.
Textbooks will hold your child back in many cases. A child that loves to read will soar far ahead if turned loose with an abundance of good qaulity books.
