That a woman's body *can* prevent ovulation in times of stress. Those of us who use fertility awareness methods can look at our charts and document it.

If ovulation is about to occur and something traumatic (or even stressful) happens, ovulation can be delayed.

Does this happen with every stress/trauma? Oh, heck no. Can an egg 'unovulate' if it's already been released? Nope.

But, yeah, sometimes a woman's body can "shut that down". The woman doesn't control it, her body does.

Akin was talking about stuff he doesn't fully understand and so he couldn't articulate it well, but people who say that he's completely wrong are, well, completely wrong.

Any woman who has ever had a wonky cycle due to stressful times should know this stuff, but for some reason, our society is so ignorant.
