I loved the time I spent with my son (now 21). I love the freedom we had to get up and go. I loved that I could work whatever shifts were needed to support our family.
What I would change is maybe nag more about doing schoolwork. I pretty much unschooled my son after elementary age. I provided the tools and tutoring, he decided what and when to learn it. That's why he taught himself 3-4 levels of math in about 18 months. Kiddo got his GED almost 2 years ago which was a requirement of mine for a diploma. He's working in management at a grocery store with occasional thoughts toward college now and then. He's independent and barely around…just as it should be for a healthy young man with his own life. Maybe I wouldn't change anything after all. *lol*
After a number of years being unable to work due to health problems, I am back at work and loving it. I am grateful that I am still young enough to enjoy life and have some freedom to do what I want---like buy an 4x4 SUV instead a of mom car *vbg*
