I had worked at the same corporation 12 years BC (before children), left when she was born, and now am working there again. I'm thankful they are still around and hope they remain. Things are different after 17 years off. Many people remind me of how much vacation or how much higher up the ladder I would be if I had stayed but my answer is the same: my child would be a different person if I had stayed. I have tons of respect for working moms who can do it all but I knew I could not. I am not knocking anyone who chooses to do things differently but *for us* this was the right decision and I miss it.....although, I do enjoy working again, too. Just a different phase of life.
