None of your statements about the wealthy not paying enough taxes will change the fact that 47% of Americans pay NO federal taxes at all while the top wage earners foot the bill. And if you tax the big corporations enough, they will just close down or move out of the country taking their jobs with them. Then we can all be on the government dole - won't that be heaven?

Reagan economics was a VAST improvement over the policies of Carter. The economy improved greatly during Reagan's time in office and the quality of life improved for Americans as well. Unless, of course, you enjoyed waiting in line for 2 hours to get a tank of gas for your car only to have it siphoned off during the night.

As for handouts to the poor - I don't have a problem giving to those in need. But, it would be nice if it was MY decision, not just taken from me. I would prefer that charity/welfare be done on a state level. There are too many flat out lazy people who only take advantage of the current system. A family on government assistance rented a house across the street from me last year, so I am not just rambling with no experience to back it up. I saw them totally trash the house. They claimed to be on disability pay (for a back injury), yet they could push their car up the street. They eventually had the county come after them (because they let their pit bull wander the neighborhood) and then they taught their children (6 of them) to lie and pretend they weren't home when anyone showed up at the door. It was quite sad to see how they were training their children to be just like themselves. The oldest girl was very nice. She would come over to play with my kids and she was always very polite. I just think it is a shame that she will probably head down the path her parents are on.
