we can say, "one down, one to go." I'm sure many of them will be sent to Afghanistan but maybe that will help the cause there to be shorter. It's the only way to look at it. One of my relatives' units came home early from Afghanistan and is not supposed to have to return. I think that is positive news. They weren't supposed to return until Christmas with the possibility of going back but they came home in July and aren't supposed to return.

Unless one is trying to actually conquer and take the land and is fighting a uniformed military, there is no actual end, I don't think, to any encounter. How can "success" be defined?

At least Obama didn't fly onto a carrier in a flight suit and stand in front of a "mission accomplished" banner that he later had to say he didn't know was there (yeah, right).
