I have posted several articles which show both support and disagreement for the not-a-mosque at not-ground-zero. The point is: it is private property, it is legal, it is NOT at Ground Zero and all of that makes it nobody's business, imo.
The president most certainly did "celebrate" or more appropriately "honor" the National Day of Prayer. Just because he didn't make a photo op out of it doesn't make him lesser than the previous president. He hasn't shown favoritism for any religion, which is really the gripe. He actually does follow the Constitution as it is written. Those who claim to follow it but want to change the parts they don't like are the problem today.
Again, you compared tax-funded initiatives like City Hall to a private property project. That doesn't compute. That city hall shouldn't have a nativity scene is not comparable to something legal going up on private property.
Again, how close should Christians be to the Oklahoma City Bombing site? Timothy McVeigh claimed Christianity and was a member of the Republican Party. Should all Christians and all Republicans suffer due to him? I think not.
Again, also, how close should Catholic churches be to playgrounds? Again, also, I'm anxious to see how the Republican Party wants to change freedom of religion and still claim to love the constitution.
We are NOT fighting the religion -- even Bush said that.
M.
