mid-late 80's but Reagan's tax cuts? How do you think America avoided a deep depression after 9/11? The financial toll that took could have done a lot more damage, if not for tax CUTS. Spending is a problem, yes... but without the tax cuts, there would be a lot less money to spend. Fact: if you want to discourage an economic activity, raise taxes on it--it makes that thing less desirable to do. For instance, if you want to DIScourage wealthy people from creating jobs, raise taxes on them!
