your position - it sounded like you did just want to yank the funds right now, today. I'm glad you cleared that up. How would you coordinate what should be taught and how? If you wouldn't coordinate then isn't there a chance that the poor communities would get very little training while the rich ones got it all? I do like the fact that we have a system in which everyone is guaranteed a quality education --- not that it always happens that way and doesn't need tons of work but it is a good idea, imo, to be able to ensure equality in knowledge.

I am very disturbed by the Texas rewriting of textbooks and cite that as a great example against total state/district control. Should they have some? Yes. Total? I'm skeptical.
