And, I know I'll get jumped for this but recently the Rep party has clumped teachers in with a group they call "special interests." They also have convinced many that education is not necessary, somehow. I know many personally who decry "ivy league" educations as if it is a terrible bad thing. I don't get it. Proverbs tells us to enhance our learning as well as common sense telling us the same thing. Until education becomes a major priority to us, we will continue to fall. In my own county, a new jail facility is being built. It looks like a mansion while the high school is falling to pieces. Now, a new jail was necessary but not this monstrosity. We are taxed to the hilt in this county while roads crumble and schools are falling down but the crime and punishment areas get top billing. Our pyramid of concerns is upside down. M.
