Inspite of our dysfunctional Congress (especially the GOP's prostitution to Big BS), and Pirates in the financial sector, we might survive. Let's hope there are a few noblemen left in leadership positions..... [more wishful thinking, no doubt]

"Barely two weeks after freshman Representative Parker Griffith (AL) announced that he was switching from the Democrat party to the Republican party, most of his staff tendered their resignations Monday morning.

There were eleven resignations including his chief of staff, press secretary, and legislative director. With rising unemployment, a worsening economic climate, health care reform concerns, and recent terror issues, Griffith's chief of staff, Sharon Wheeler stated that staffers "cannot, in good conscience, continue working for him."

The former Blue Dog Democrat announced his party affiliation change in a statement issued on December 22, 2009, stating that the Democrat party no longer represents the interests of his conservative district. He has vowed to vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House in the next session, and was one of only 39 Democrats to vote against the health care reform bill."
