Subject:         Is it true we will all have to buy health insurance?

I didn't have time to read in detail something I saw on Yahoo very briefly. Will we all be required to buy health insurance? I seem to have a good income on the surface but lotsa bills, etc. Based on my income alone, we do not qualify for our states's low cost plan for my daughter. Because of my health problems, I have been told I cannot qualify for another 4-5 years to buy health insurance, and I don't have any. Even in good health, we are talking about $400 or more per month to cover us both. (I'm 56 and in So. California).

I pay about $65 monthly for my teen daughters (lousy Blue Shd coverage),owe $3000 to a hospital for her that this lousy Blue company doesn't pay, which will go to collections too, no doubt. That insurance is only in case of catastrophic illness, evidently, since it doesn't really pay for anything else unlike the state program we no longer qualify for.

At my job there is only my employer and I, and he's not doing so good this year. I took the job 2 years ago without insurance, because these days it is better to have some INCOME no matter what the benefits are.

If I have to buy insurance is this going to be expensive? I now have a history of a heart problem, take Plavix & Lipitor, glipizide (Diabetes 2) & albuteral inhaler (asthma) for abot $300 I pay in cash per month. I'm supposed to test my blood sugar but cannot afford the test strips. If it "passes", will the plan pick up the cost of these presciptions, only 2 of which can be gotten generically?

Or is it going to be another waste of money? Will this be a government plan or just a lousy variation of private insurance? Can they really force people to buy health insurance? Or my boss to pay for it? I am afraid he would fire me if that is the case. I want socialized medicine but shouldn't our taxes go to pay for it?

If you know more, please post. I cannot seem to find out anything.
