addressing the causes and helping women deal with their lives *before* they end up in dire straights. We could literally spend the rest of our lives in unison and never reach the end of the goal if that end is abolishing the need altogether. We could, however, lower the number continually by helping those in need and working together. You, annie, have detailed many times over the years ways we could do this. But, the bottom line is - work towards keeping women and girls safe from rape and incest - help young girls understand what's going on and educate them - and also educate young men! One of the best ways to educate them, sometimes, is by simply allowing them to babysit a wild-child! LOL But, you're right - when it's used as a wedge issue or club to beat us up with, we reach the brick wall immediately. As with any big job, we usually have to start with baby steps and cannot expect the end result immediately. M.
