The specific instance I am thinking about is the issue of card check. Democrats have promised to remove the secret ballot provision of union voting via the Orwellian named Employee Free Choice Act.

This is anathema to everything that is American and, given your strong concern for election fairness, anathema to you personally, I would assume. I know it is to me. Union membership in America is waning, which is why union leaders want to get rid of the secret ballot. If secret ballot is gone, voter intimidation is much easier. And Dems are beholden to union $$$, which is why they've promised to deliver on this issue despite Americans being hugely against it. (It's very similar to how/why Dems are against vouchers in education because of their strong money ties to the NEA and depsite strong minority parent support for vouchers.)

While the Dems may bring some very positive changes, the only thing that saved the secret ballot last time around was threat of a Rep. filibuster in the Senate.

In this instance, the filibuster is a useful and good tool (amazing how insightful our founders were in devising some of these checks and balances, isn't it?).

I am just asking that you watch your party very closely on this issue of card check and make your voices heard. It would take an overwhelming ground swell of public sentiment to uphold the secret ballot in order for the Dems to buck union money here. I look for them to try to pass this without notice and with much obfuscation (like the very name of the act, opposite in name to it's intention).

Blessings, Holly
