that someone posted about a family who bought nothing from China for a year and wrote a book about their experiences in trying to avoid "Made in China"?
I must say, I do try to buy as little "Made in China" as possible and not at all if it is a luxury item (cute home decoration, etc). I make an exception for garage sale and Goodwill since that is resale.
It is very difficult to avoid.
Marketplace (NPR) had a story on this last night. I just caught the tail end of it, so am not sure of the whole gist, but at least in some provinces, the Chinese government is beginning to treat their workers better.
Marketplace discussed the end of deflationary goods as the whole world pays for the increased Chinese wages, but in my mind, this is a good and necessary thing even taking in to account that it will hurt some lower income people here.
Blessings,
Holly
