I think there is valid point in Delilah's post. I think there is a great cost to how supervised our children are and how little time they spend in unstructured play, especially outside and/or in motion (clicking remote control buttons doesn't count as motion).
I really do think we can make things too safe to be good for us. I don't know just where the line between "safe" and "too safe" is... certainly somewhere safer than lead paint on baby cribs and less safe than making up games with sticks and tennis balls.
