Hi. I was browsing the web, and found this post. I am a homeschooler going Public as well. I am starting 10th grade at a nearby Public school, and am actually not nervous. I have always been surrounded by good christian friends, and don't know what to expect really. But, my suggestion is to become involved in any christian clubs your school might offer - Or if they dont have one, start one! My school is going to have 2 different christian clubs - a bible study in the morning and then another well-known club that I cant remember the name of. This is a good way to find christian friends that can help keep you grounded and in the right path.
Yes, it will be wierd - to have school 5 days a week from 7:30 until 2:30, to figure out how to use lockers, and to be able to find classes in my huge 2-story confusing looking school... and to make new friends when I have just grown up with the ones I have now... But, it's an oppurtunty to minister to others, and become part of a great community of people.
So, when you walk in (as I will this Monday - my very firt day of school), chin up, shoulders back, look confident (even if you are wanting to crawl inside a hole inside) smile at everyone, (remember that if you ignore people out of shyness, it comes across as snobby-ness) step out of your comfort zone and reach out to others, dont worry about popularity, be the person that always has a kind word for your peers, and a smile on your face, and remember that no matter what, God is always with you.
Good luck to you, and me as well :)
