There are many reasons why someone could find themselves (or their children0 in this situation. Our family is in a similar situation. The company my husband works for is closing all its U.S. offices and going overseas, in just a few weeks he will be unemployed. We are moving back to where we originally came from(close to family and friends) to find work. It is now neccesary that both my husband and myself work just to put food on the table and pay bills, and so our three children, who have been homeschooled since 1994, must attend public school.

Our oldest is a bit nervous, but also excited at the opportunities. Our middle son is reluctant, but willing to try, and our youngest is worried that he won't like the food(happily remedied by brown-bagging it). It really comes down to the matter of a good attitude and willingness to try something different.

I am soooooooooooo sick of the religious right-wing homeschool wackos trying to scare the crap out of everyone by propagating the idea that if your kids aren't homeschooled, they(AND YOU!!!) are nothing. I love my kids just as much now as I did when I started homeschooling 10 yrs. ago. I am a product of public education and I was quite happy with my middle school and high school experience. Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Our entire family has to make sacrifices in order to have a life at all. Everyone will need to make the best of it if it is going to work.
Not all public schools are evil dens of sin and degredation.....I've seen some AWFUL stuff going on in local churches.......of which, thankfully, I am no longer a part........everyone has a what you believe to be right!!!!!!!!
