I just read your comments. I think you're right that
we need some kind of support group for homeschool
moms who are just finishing up or ending their
homeschool years. It can be difficult to adjust. I'd
love to hear how other moms are dealing with or have
dealt with this.
I still have a few more years to go, but my 2 oldest
are near the end of their high school and just
finishing up with them alone makes me sad sometimes.
I can relate with the part that they are working
independently and don't really need me to sit with
them and do their school. My oldest is dual
enrolled. I have started to read the books that they
are assigned in their English classes and try to
discuss the books with them.
Have you considered maybe taking in an exchange
student? My brother is doing that now. We used to be
foster parents. I just talked to my husband the
other day about possibly doing that again, except
this time, instead of babies, we'll do kids a little
older.
I do think it's important to keep busy, whether
getting a job or volunteering. I've just done all my
requirements to volunteer at a home for children.
I'm sure I can tutor the children in reading and
help them with homework. I'm also praying and asking
God to prepare my heart for the day they do leave
home. I'd rather they go and are following God's
plan for their life than for them to be home and out
of His will. This is what we've prepared them
for...it's just hard letting go and finding a new
vision and goal in our own lives.
Would love to hear how you all are doing.
