Wow, I haven't been on this board in YEARS but just popped in for no reason, and here this is. Right there with you, I have two kiddos, my oldest is graduating college this May, and my son is in boot camp.

Get busy! That worked for me. Volunteer with kids? Scouts? Humane Society? Offer your farm to other homeschoolers for classes or ?

I had to go to work (hairdresser) in a shop once the kids moved and the economy tanked, but we also had two horses left over from the kids that were almost forced to sell. Got an idea to invite other homeschooling families over and teach them what I know (very little) about keeping horses, chickens, turkeys. That was two years ago, and now I have 60 kids coming over every week, five horses, and no time to even think about missing kids. My daughter told me that I am the world's worst empty nester.

Anyway, I understand completely. These kids are our world, and especially as homeschoolers, we never got "rid" of them like others had to. Then, BAM! Overnight it changes. Talk about rejection and hurt, and missing them.

I don't have the opportunity to get on here much, but will check back to see if you got this, and please email me if you feel like talking or want support. It's hard. But you can do it, and it DOES get easier.
