We homeschooled for six years, then my daughter went to public school for a couple of years and was happy. Recently, she has decided to come home so we're homeschooling again. I'm single, work and go to school. So far here's how we are going to handle it, for math she'll do Saxon, I got the CD that has instruction for each chapter and it actually works out each and every problem in the book. For language arts, we'll use the reading list from Sonlight. She loves to write, I found a site with lot's of writing contests she can enter, science we're still working out, but the rest we're relaxed. My ds got his high school diploma hs'ing and our style was pretty much unschooled/relaxed, child directed learning and he scored above average on all standardized tests. My dd scored above average on testing when she entered public school and the first two years she was an honor roll student. This past year she lost interest in school and her grades went down, so did her love of learning. School took it's toll, she's only been home for little over a week and I see a change in her already, for the better of course. Anyway, all of this to introduce myself and say that it is possible to homeschool even if you can't be home full time. BTW I tutored a young lady at the college for a year and she was homeschooled, her mother works at the library full time, she's an honor roll student at the community college! HTH's, aloha, darlene
