I've been homeschooling for years and twice had to work part-time when my husband was laid off. He found work fairly quickly each time, but was making a whole lot less (he worked as a limo driver, so he was working all hours), so I had to help out. It can be done.
The first time, we had 4 kids, 6-17, so babysitting was not an issue (the 2nd time, we had 5 kids, 12-29 (all still living at home due to the economy - my husband just found work this January - he works a regular job during the week and drives limos on Saturdays).
In each case, I found work locally (same place each time). I worked 20 hrs. a week (4 nights a week - 5 hr. shifts), so I was able to teach during the day, take a nap and get to work. Once things eased up a little, I was able to reduce my hours a bit and it did help make things easier, but the 20 hrs. was doable.
I'm still working nights, just 3 nights a week now.
The juggle is tough at time, but the key for me was getting help and staying organized. The kids always cooperated and one always babysit the younger ones. I do my lesson planning outlines for the year each summer (filling in the details as I go) and that helped too. Make sure you get enough rest and eat well too. Taking care of you is important throughout this...HTH
