I can't compare them both, but I know that with the Videotext series you will need to start with that series and stay in that series throughout high school. A good friend of mine is a college-level math teacher and used this with her children, but had to go back and re-start her daughter's high school maths with the videotext in order for her to understand what was going on. As a math teacher she felt Videotext was the best, but she had not counted on the huge expense of buying the entire series. Or the time cost for her daughter to re-start HS math.
On the other hand, I have used the Teaching Textbooks and love them. We have used the Alg.II and Geometry and they are excellent for independent math learning. Both are excellent programs...I suppose that the Videotext would be the better choice IF you have a math-major potential student.
