I had heard so much about Total Health and was excited to get it for my son. However, when we actually bought it, I wondered if it was the middle school text! It wasn't - I perused my friend's middle school copy and there wasn't a ton of difference in the level of writing. Sure, some of the topics were different (like dating, etc.), but it was such a light-weight text that my son felt it was very young. It was quite didactic and even though I basically agreed with the material, the way it was presented felt like a Sunday School class. My son felt like it was talking down to him and not giving him credit for knowing basic Biblical commands/morals/Scriptures. When they would warn students about some unhealthy or risky behavior, it was more like "Don't do this - it isn't Godly" instead of giving them compelling or practical strategies for making wise decisions and engaging them on a level appropriate to a young adult. If you plan to use this book, I would do so early in high school rather than when they are older.
