Anyone know of interesting US Goverment course that is not utterly dry and boring?

We have always used Sonlight. My son is at the place where he needs to have a US Government type course to graduate. My friends who also use Sonlight said that the Government course offered by Sonlight was dry and boring (this from folks who are Sonlight loyalists!). Maybe it is just a dry and boring subject, but if anyone knows of something better, please let me know your experience. I don't really want to know what you have HEARD, I want to know from those of you who have actually done it. Thanks for your suggestions in advance, Sally
