Try thrift stores. I bought two that way, one is a folding school desk with just a "top" and chair - doubles for a "tv table" or "picnic table for one". The other one I got is your standard 2nd to 4th grade desk with lift top to store books in. Anyway, I've seen these desks usually at thrift stores, antique stores, and even a garage sale.
