Do not skimp here....Buy the one requested or research and find the newest model used by high schoolers today. At the time we were required to use TI-83 and within 2 months the TI-83 Silver came out and then the TI-84 followed.
We used BJU HomeSat and we had no money, but BJU was very vocal about needing the student to have the same calculator that the teacher would use so that the students would all Be-on-the-same-page when they did calculator computations.
We bought ours 5 years ago and in adition to getting him through Alg I, Alg LL, Geometry,Pre-Calc, Comupter Programming....DS used it in the fall for SAT and is using it now at community college for Physics. He totes it right along with pencil , paper and backpack....
Spend the money !
