You can issue a diploma to your child....there are places online you can order one. For college, a transcript of all high school coursework (leading to graduation from high school) is what is needed. I don't know of any college that asks for a copy of the high school diploma. And with getting a job, being a high school graduate is usually necessary and/or helpful, but again, I don't know of many jobs that ask for a copy of your diploma. A potential employer will ask if you are a high school graduate on the application and I suppose, you should be prepared to back that up with documentation.

Perhaps someone else has had a different experience in another state. This has been our experience in IL.
