The other responses were correct in directing your toward your state's homeschool laws. I think you are smart ofr checking with your statewide homeschool group too. You may end up contacting your local school district.
I have been asked this question from a business/tax perspective. I have several blog posts on being a governess teaching homeschooled children, sometimes even children from several families at once. Sort of a mini-private achool. That's not what you are proposing, but it is certainly happening more often.
You didn't mention if you would be charging a fee to homeschool this girl, but you may find my posts helpful anyway.
