I have been reading many good and bad reports about ACE, but I love the curriculum. While it is a mastery program and doesn't offer a lot of higher level thinking skills, it is very sequential, so learning is very progressive. I am a qualified special educator and see the great benefits of the curriculum. It is also good for filling in gaps in a student's learning, and students can learn at their own pace. My son chose ACE so that he could work at his own pace and not be held back by classmates or the problems that happen in public education classrooms. One suggestion I would make is that your student complete the 7th grade level of English before graduation to brush up on grammar skills. I made my son do this his senior year, and he said that although at the time he didn't like the idea, it really helped him to ace his college entrance exam. ACE also offers a variety of college level courses that could be used for students that are gifted. ACE also offers the flexibility of graduating early or to dual enroll in a community college. I have many more things I could say... contact me by e-mail if you have any more questions!
