Pick a time period that you think she might be interested in-medicine-the Greeks, science-the Industrial Revolution, the sea- Age of Exploration, art- The Renaissance. Set aside read aloud time each day for fantastic historical fiction about the period. Do light duty project about the time-Ex: lap book, food feast, craft. It will serve as a great, stress-free bonding time and you both might have fun with it. I would recommend using a study guide to help you find those fantastic books appropriate for grade level. We have used Beautiful Feet and AWOA and loved them both. BF is specific to hx although with a Progeny Press SG we also counted it for lit. AWOA is a unit study but is geared for Gr4-8 so you might want to just use the hx reading guide. Enjoy!
