Patti--thanks for your reply. I am thinking I may have them do the tests open book. I see no point in memorizing a bunch of stuff to fill in--especially on history. Do they have comprehension study questions throughout the chapters? Maybe I will have them do those and grade them...lots of ways you can go with that. Your idea was good, too...thanks so much for responding:) (my son will be in 11th this coming year, other one in 9th)
